Dig in to an Exciting Science Career

As a geologist, you could have a career in the outdoors doing fieldwork. Or you could work in a lab as a research assistant or technician. With experience, you might become a project leader, program manager or researcher. People with degrees in Geology study the history of the Earth. They work to solve environmental problems caused by humans. And they work as engineers in the mining and petroleum industries. For a career that lets you be outdoors, travel to interesting places and answer important scientific questions, Geology is a great choice.

If you want a Geology career, chances are you’ll need a master’s degree or more. WWCC offers transfer degrees that can get you where you need to go — with less debt. If your next step is a Bachelor of Science, you might want a more science-focused associate degree. Program Outcomes

  • Demonstrate the knowledge foundational to physical, life and/or sports sciences.
  • Test hypotheses in the laboratory or field using discipline-specific tools and techniques for data collection and analysis.
  • Use empirical evidence or mathematical models generated from observable phenomena to reach an informed conclusion.
  • Evaluate the validity of scientific information and reflect upon its implications.
  • Communicate scientific information effectively using written, oral, and/or visual forms.
  • Make decisions and propose solutions based on science regarding their own personal health as well as issues that impact their communities.
