Walla Walla Community College

On Monday, February 26, students from Walla Walla Community College, Walla Walla University and Whitman College will come together on the Whitman campus for a unique event designed to promote conversations among students of different backgrounds, experiences and beliefs.

Bridging the Gap, a project led by WWCC-to-Whitman transfer student Amy Heistuman, is designed to open pathways between different groups, encourage students to broaden their networks and perspectives, and build more empathy and compassion.

Guest speaker Erin Jones will kick off the event. Jones is an educational consultant and a former candidate for State Superintendent and will speak about diversity, inclusion, and the need to build bridges between people of different backgrounds to heal and bring about change in our world. (Listen to her TEDxSpokane talk.)

Later students will break out into roundtable groups focusing on different social and political issues on that matter within our community.

Students from all three campuses are encouraged to attend the event at the Reid Ballroom in the Reid Campus Center from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.
