Using Canva at WWCC
Canva is a powerful design tool that makes it easy to create professional-looking flyers, forms, and digital materials — even if you don’t have a background in graphic design.
WWCC uses Canva for Teams, which provides access to brand templates, logos, fonts, and color palettes to help everyone stay consistent with the college’s visual identity.
Who Can Use Canva
Because WWCC pays for a limited number of Canva licenses, not everyone automatically has access. Accounts are reserved for employees who create internal communication materials or student-facing materials as part of their official job duties.
This includes, for example:
- Staff who regularly design internal newsletters, forms, or student-life flyers
- Program assistants or coordinators who create handouts for students
- Supervisors who need branded signage or event materials for on-campus use
If designing materials is not part of your job duties, please do not request an account. You can still request Marketing support for public materials (see the Printing page).
How to Request a Canva Account
To request a Canva account:
- Make sure your job description includes creating internal communication or student-facing materials.
- Email rebecca.thorpe@wwcc.edu with:
- Your name and position
- Department
- A short explanation of how you plan to use Canva
Once approved, you’ll receive an invitation to join the WWCC Canva for Teams workspace.
What You Can Create in Canva
If you have a WWCC Canva account, you can design:
- Flyers, posters, or handouts for current students, faculty, and staff
- Internal process forms and resource guides
- Event materials for on-campus audiences (e.g., staff events, student clubs, internal trainings)
- PowerPoint-style presentations for internal use
Do not use Canva to create or publish materials aimed at prospective students, the public, community partners, donors, or alumni. Those are considered marketing materials and must go through the Marketing & Communications Department for approval and production.
Brand Guide and Design Resources
WWCC’s Brand Guide is built directly into Canva to help you create materials that look professional and on-brand.
Inside the Brand Guide, you’ll find:
- Approved WWCC logos (in English and Spanish)
- Official color palette and hex codes
- College fonts and typography settings
- A curated photo library and graphics collection
- Templates for flyers, posters, and presentations
These tools make it easy to produce consistent, brand-compliant designs that reflect WWCC’s identity and values.
If you are unsure whether your design meets brand standards, contact Marketing & Communications before printing or sharing it.
Staying on Brand
Please follow these best practices:
- Do not stretch, crop, or recolor WWCC logos.
- Keep messaging clear, inclusive, and professional.
- Match the tone and look of other WWCC materials.
Your Canva workspace automatically includes the approved fonts and colors — no need to add your own.
