The Testing Center at WWCC provides professional monitoring and administration of standardized placement, GED, CLEP, TEAS, Distance course and classroom make up exams.

Students requesting testing accommodations, please see Disabilities Support Services for more information. Testing accommodations must be approved through the Disabilities Coordinator prior to scheduling.

Placement Testing

Placement provides the starting point for your educational journey. Placement will determine your English and math levels to help you select courses and complete prerequisites necessary for courses you need to take at WWCC. It is generally required for degree-seeking students to complete placement and it is sometimes needed in other areas.

Pick the option below that best fits your situation. You are welcome to pick more than one or change to another later. If you are unsure if testing is required for your program, please contact your advisor or the Testing Center.

Guided Self-Placement

Complete the Guided Self-placement process online using this form. Submit your information on the form below and the Math and/or English Guided Self-placement process information will be sent directly to your email.  If you have difficulties, email [email protected] to receive assistance.

You must activate your NetID before completing the English Guided Self-placement process.

Evaluations may take up to 3 business days to process.

WALLA WALLA CAMPUS

The Walla Walla Campus Testing Center is located in in the Library, 2nd floor of the main building (Building D).

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a break for lunch.

CLARKSTON CAMPUS

The Clarkston Campus Testing Center is located in Room 117 in the main building.

Hours: Testing Center hours vary depending on need.

Proctored Exams

The Testing Center provides exam proctoring services for both on and off campus students, distance learning exams, and make-up exams.  Appointments should be made at least 24 hours in advance of the requested test date to ensure test delivery, time, and space availability.  Appointments can be made through each campus’s Testing Center.

Student Information

All students are required to check in at the Testing Center.  A valid Student ID card or Driver’s License must be presented upon check-in. Certain items are not permitted in the testing rooms and will be stored prior to testing.

Before you test:

  • Remember to bring your exam materials – if required by instructor (scantron sheet, calculator, etc.)
  • All personal belongings will be stored prior to testing including but not limited to; backpacks, cell phones, books, study aids, and listening devices.
  • Food and/or beverages are not allowed in the testing rooms.
  • Please allow sufficient time to complete your exam. You will not be permitted to begin your exam if the total exam time allowed extends beyond open lab hours.
  • If you need to make other arrangements please contact your Faculty member.

Non-WWCC Students:

  • Non-WWCC students must make an appointment to test.
  • All Non-WWCC students must pay an $30.00 testing fee.
  • Payments must be made prior to testing.
  • Testing fees can be paid at the Business Services Office at 509.426.7960.
  • After business hours testing fees can be paid with Testing Staff in exact change or with a check.

Faculty Information

The Testing Center provides testing services to faculty to assist with make-up exams and testing for students with accommodations. Students are requested to make an appointment to test to ensure that all parties are aware of the need to test in the Testing Center.

Using the Testing Center:

  • In order to protect exam security, exams must be delivered in a timely manner and given only to testing staff, left in our secured drop box, or submitted via email to [email protected].
  • Please do not leave exams at the testing counter unattended.
  • If exams are scheduled in advance, the Testing Center will notify you via email regarding the students’ appointment time.
  • If exams are not in the testing center upon the students’ arrival, the student will be referred to faculty to make arrangements for the exam to be proctored.

Accurate test administration depends in part on you. Please submit your exam with an exam cover sheet. You will need to complete the top half of the cover sheet.

GED Testing

The GED is a series of four exams (Science, Social Studies, Mathematical Reasoning and Reasoning through Language Arts) designed to provide evidence of general educational competence equivalent to the minimum level required for a graduating high school senior. A minimum score of 145 is necessary to pass each test.

ELIGIBILITY FOR TAKING EXAMS

  • You must not have graduated nor be currently enrolled in an accredited high school program in the United States or Canada.
  • You must be at least 19 years old OR if you are 16-18 years old as of today, you must submit the required “Request for Approval to Test” form signed by a designated school administrator from a school district in Washington State. If you are homeschooled, please come to the Testing Center to obtain the form.
  • You must be a resident of the State of Washington.  If not a resident of Washington, State of Washington cannot issue your certificate.

EXAM PREPARATION

  • Enroll in GED preparation classes – cost is $25 per quarter. There may be financial aid available to cover this cost. For more information, LINK TO PAGE . These classes are not required to take the GED.

EXAM FEES

  • Each GED test costs $36 and retests cost $10.
  • Payments are submitted online at the time you schedule your appointment.

TAKING THE EXAM

  • Testing is by appointment only. Please register at GED.com, or call 1.877.392.6433.
  • Bring your government issued photo identification (e.g., state driver’s license, state ID card, or passport).
  • Bring a valid Washington Driver’s license or by bringing a current utilities bill with your Washington address to show that you are a current resident of the State of Washington.
  • The TI-30XS calculator is the ONLY calculator that can be used on the Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics Part 2 exams. You can bring your own TI-30XS calculator, which will be inspected upon arrival. We also have a limited amount of TI-30XS calculators available within the Testing Center. There is an embedded calculator within the test and therefore a physical calculator is not required.

ATI TEAS Testing

ATI TEAS Test

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS) is 170 questions, 209 minutes, proctored exam that measures basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of reading, mathematics, science, and English and language usage. It is used for application to many health science programs, including the WWCC Nursing program.

SCHEDULING THE ATI TEAS TEST

When: Available sessions are listed out on the ATI website when you register for the exam. Testing sessions generally begin in January and end in April of each year. Please register as soon as possible to reserve your seat.  When registering, look for Walla Walla Walla Walla ADN  or Walla Walla CC Clarkston as the testing location.

How: To schedule, go to www.atitesting.com/teas

  • Select “Create an account”; you will asked to provide student information.  The only field required is the school you wish to apply for.  Please select “Walla Walla Walla Walla ADN” or “Walla Walla CC Clarkston”.
  • After creating an account and logging in, select the “Online Store” at the top of the screen.
  • In the online store, select “TEAS” located in the left hand column under Register for…
  • The next screen requires selecting the Program Type (TEAS for Nursing Students), country (USA), state (Washington), and city (Walla Walla, WA or Clarkston, WA), and then you will have the option to select a testing time and location.

*If you are applying to an institution other than the one you are testing at, you will need to purchase a TEAS transcript through the Online Store once your score posts into your account and have your TEAS transcript sent to the WWCC Nursing program.

You will need to print a hard copy of your TEAS results and staple these results to your WWCC Nursing program application by the due date.  See the Nursing program website for details on Admission.

COST:  There is a testing fee of $100 required to finish registration, to be paid online through the ATI website.

TAKING THE ATI TEAS TEST

  • Individuals must arrive on-time
  • Individuals must present a government issued photo ID and their ATI username and password
  • Test length is four hours
  • Calculators, cell phones, or any other electronic communication devices are NOT allowed
  • All personal belongings will be secured prior to testing (lockers are provided at the Testing Center)
  • Scratch paper and pencils will be provided by the Testing Center
  • Study Manuals or ATI Online Practice TEAS testing is available for purchase in the ATI Online Store.

Credit by Exam

Credit by exam is possible in selected courses if the student has prior educational experience that parallels the skills or knowledge required to complete the course. A maximum of 25% of the credits needed for a degree or certificate completion may be earned through credit by examination. Students who are planning to transfer should inquire about the credit by exam policy at their receiving institution.

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) helps students earn credit for what they already know through general academic instructions, significant independent study, or extracurricular work. By receiving a satisfactory score on a CLEP exam, students can earn credits required for their degree program at Walla Walla Community College (institutional credit awarding policies do vary, therefore, transfer students should check on the number of CLEP credits accepted by their receiving institution).

Exam Information

  • CLEP examinations cover material taught in courses that most students take as requirements in the first two years of college.
  • Many examinations are designed to correspond to one-semester courses, although some correspond to full-year or two-year courses.
  • Faculty at individual colleges review the exams to ensure that they cover the material currently taught in their courses.

Taking the Exam

  • There are 33 CLEP exams available at college test centers and on military bases. The CLEP exam fee is $89 per exam. If you are NOT a WWCC student, there is an additional $30 proctor fee that will need to be paid at the cashier’s office before testing.
