Walla Walla Community College is celebrating the launch of its new Audio Engineering program with a fun-filled, two-day Open House and Jam Session later this month.
On Aug. 7 and 14, from 1 to 5 p.m., students and visitors are invited to WWCC’s Walla Walla campus to check out the new audio lab in the Professional Technical “J” Building, where WWCC students will soon be able to learn about audio engineering, audio recording, digital audio and live sound.
The new Audio Engineering program has been submitted for state approval and is anticipated to start in Fall Quarter 2024. The program has been years in the making and will offer a one-year certificate that will prepare students to work in the audio industry.
The new audio lab was carefully crafted by the program’s instructor, Rodney Outlaw, who is well-known in the Walla Walla community for his work teaching youth workshops about music and live sound. Open house visitors will get a firsthand look at the top-of-the-line recording software, audio plug-ins, mixing console, DAW control surface and outboard gear.
Registration for the Audio Engineering program is open now, and workforce navigators and other college staff will be on hand at the open house to help identify grants, offer support with financial aid and answer admission questions. Brief campus tours will also be available midway through the events.
