The Culinary Arts program is designed to prepare students for success in the food service and hospitality industry. It provides opportunities to learn the basic skills in product knowledge, food production, service and management while incorporating extensive hands-on instruction and internship opportunities.

Mission

The Culinary Arts Program is dedicated to provide a quality professional culinary education to prepare individuals entering the food service and hospitality industry. Using the core values of excellence, leadership, professionalism, ethics and respect, individuals gain the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in the industry while enabling them to grow into leadership and management positions.

  • Prepare graduates to enter the food service and hospitality industry with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful.
  • Provide opportunities and support for professional life long learning in the hospitality industry through the seminars and conferences.

    Degree Options

    Students may earn an Associate in Applied Arts and Sciences Degree in Culinary Arts upon completion of the two-year program of study. A Culinary Arts Certificate, is available upon completion of the first year of study in the program.

    Entrance Requirements

    It is recommended that the student contact the lead instructor regarding appropriate program placement and paying a priority list fee to determine specific quarter start in the program. Students may enter the program fall, winter or spring quarter. A placement test offered by the Student Development Center must be completed prior to admittance to the program. It is mandatory that students possess a current State of Washington Health Card.
