What is TRIO?

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded grant program whose purpose is to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements and motivate students toward the successful completion of their post-secondary education. The goal of SSS is to increase the college retention, graduation, and transfer rates of its participants.

How do I know if I am eligible?
  • You qualify if you are:
    • US citizen or permanent resident.
    • Currently enrolled at WWCC or planning to register next quarter.
    • Intend to transfer to a 4 yr college.
  • AND at least one of the following applies:
    • First generation college student (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree).
    • Meet federal financial eligibility requirements.
    • Documented disability.

TRIO Services Include….

  • Individualized academic and career advising.
  • Transfer planning, includes help completing college applications.
  • Skills workshops and free college courses in Career Exploration and Financial Literacy.
  • Identification of strengths, study skills, and learning styles.
  • Textbook and course supplies loan program.
  • Financial aid and scholarship help.
  • Financial planning for personal budgeting and college costs.
  • One-on-one tutoring at no cost to the student.
  • TRIO only computer workstations with free printing.
  • Free campus visits to four-year colleges.
  • Link to campus resources.
  • Job shadowing/internship opportunities.
  • TRIO Club activities and leadership opportunities.
How do I apply?

Complete the TRIO SSS application and return it to the Business Office or to Valdasue Steele, TRIO Advisor, rm 116, or via email to [email protected] . Your application will be reviewed and then you will be contacted by the TRIO Advisor.
