VTAEL update

Vocational Technical Adult Education Liaison

VTAEL is a liaison of ESL and ABE instructors and Vocational Technical Instructors that meet regularly. We have finalized plans to integrate all ESL level fours, fives, sixes and interested ABE students into Vocational Programs in the Fall of 05.

Currently there are 50 students taking part in the program. These students are co-enrolled and co-taught within Professional Technical Courses and also in Basic Skills classes. These students are learning basic skills in the context of the profession they wish to enter. The drop out rate and student completions have significantly lowered in the I-BEST models.
