Using Instructor's Briefcase
  • Launch your browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape), go to our home page at www.wallawalla.cc, and click on the Instructor's Briefcase link.
  • Enter your Instructor SS# and your PIN. Choose the quarter for which you wish to view rosters. If you have not used IBC before and need your PIN, obtain it from Susan Wisdom in the Payroll office.
  • After authenticating to IBC, you may want to click on Pin Change on the screen's left side and enter the required information.

To view a roster, click on a class item number to view the roster's contents. You may print a roster or copy the information to another program to work with it. For example...

Want to create a roster or gradesheet using Excel?
Here's a tutorial with pictures, or follow the text instructions below.

  • In IBC, highlight the block of student information and choose Edit > Copy or press Ctrl + C.
  • Launch Microsoft Excel and choose Edit > Paste or press Ctrl + V.
  • Highlight the column containing your information by clicking on the gray block with an 'A' in it.
  • Choose Data > Text to Columns and select Delimited, Next and Comma, Finish.
  • Highlight the entire spreadsheet by clicking on the gray block to the left of 'A' and above '1'.
  • Move the cursor over the line between 'A' and 'B' and it will change to a vertical line with arrows pointing left & right.
  • Double click. This will re-size all columns to fit the content.

Want to create a mailing list so you can e-mail all of your students at once?

  • Highlight the block of student e-mail addresses and choose Edit > Copy or press Ctrl + C.
  • Launch Netscape Messenger and click on the Address Book icon on the bottom right. It resembles an address book index card with a little person on it.
  • Select New List and enter a list name. The class number, e.g. ct100, would be a good name.
  • Click in the first address field below "Type names or drag addresses..."
Now here's where you have to use a Ctrl key combination: Hold down Ctrl and press V once. This will paste the information that you have copied from IBC. Then click on OK.
  • To send a message to your students, from your Netscape Messenger Inbox, click on Compose, then Address, and under your Personal Address Book you can select the list you just created.
