Techology Services

Walla Walla Community College’s Technology Services Department provides a wide range of support, services and products to meet the mission and goals of the entire college as well as individual departments – instructional and non-instructional.

Technology Services’ mission statement is somewhat tongue in cheek, “IT’s all about you.” The play on words IT – an acronym for Information Technology – and the sentiment is a genuine reflection of the strong customer service attitude in the Technology Services Department. When something is important to the mission and goals of your department or the college, it is important to Technology Services as well.

A list of the functions the Technology Services Department supports includes:

  • Desktop faculty and staff computers
  • Open and instructional computers labs and software
  • Database, file, and print servers including data backup and restoration
  • Staff and student email setup and support
  • Backing up all data
  • Campus digital security (virus scanning software, firewalls, etc.)
  • Administrative software for Payroll, Financial, Student Management & Financial Aid
  • Login accounts and passwords for all computer and telephone systems
  • College web server content
  • Internet access
  • Telephone setup and support
  • Data and telephone wiring (new data and phone jacks)
  • ITV (Interactive Television)
  • Locally-developed applications such as OCA, Ed Plans, and OLA
  • System developed applications, such as FMS Query

The Technology Services Department emphasizes “one-stop calling.” This means that all staff and students are encouraged to call the HELP DESK number to insure the calls are answered, logged, and tracked to completion. Even for after-hours calls – (7AM – 5PM) be assured a voice mail will get attended to the next business day. The HELP DESK number couldn’t be easier to remember – 527-4357 or 527-HELP (just 4357 on campus). Because the college is open until 9PM most nights and is often conducting classes or training on weekends, emergency access to a technician is sometimes needed after normal working hours. In each computer lab is a poster with the after-hours pager number, 527-4866. Call it, leave a message with a phone number and, under most circumstances, someone will return the call.

Just recently, WWCC has implemented Microsoft Outlook as the mail client. All workstations have been upgraded campus-wide. Technology Services appreciates your patience during this transition. If you have issues with email, please call the help desk at extension 4357, off campus at 527-4357.
