Interests

Most of us want to choose a job in an area that interests us and involves activities that we are interested in doing. For example, you wouldn’t want to work with numbers all day as an Accountant if you dislike math.

Interest inventories are assessment tools that can help you match your interests to careers. For example, what do people who have your similar interests tend to do for a living? These inventories are based upon the idea that people are more satisfied and successful when they work in jobs that they find interesting, and when they work with people whose interests are similar to their own.

USE THESE TOOLS TO HELP YOU IDeNTIFY YOUR INTERESTS AND HOW THEY RELATE TO CAREERS:

  • DISCOVER
  • WOIS (Washington Occupational Information System)

These are interactive software tools designed to help you identify interests (both are available to students on campus, or arrangements can be made through a WWCC Student Development Center Counselor to use them off campus via the internet.
