PYTHAGOREAN & GALILEO    
***Participants will explore the first two figures of the 'Four Perspectives in the History of Ideas'. We will look at how the world has changed in response to powerful ideas of our remarkable species. In particular, we will look at key contributions of Pythagoras and Galileo. Reading and videos are included in our study of the Pythagorean idea of Nature as governed by number and of Galileo's contribution to the methods of modern science and experimental inquiry.

Join me and fellow Questers on a five-Saturday adventure to meet and talk with local artists in their studios. GREAT DECISIONS    
***Great Decisions is America's largest discussion program on world affairs. The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watching the DVD and meeting in a Discussion Group to discuss teh most critical global issues facing America Today. This year we will tackle critical issues from the relationship between Israel and the U.S. to China's foreign policy.

4TH DIMENSION    
***We will discuss concepts of the Fourth Dimension, showing how such a dimension (and higher dimensions) can be thought about, mathematically and geometrically. The meaning of a physical fourth dimension (and higher dimensions too) will be briefly touched. Finally, participants will see a video, created by the instructor, of a 4-dimensional object rotation in the space of the classroom. Surprisingly, moral and theological aspects of higher-dimensional thinking will also make their appearance.

***If you love theater, join us on a day trip to Spokane to see the award winning matinee performance of \"Wicked\" So much happened in the lives of the witches before Dorothy dropped in. Two other girls met in the Land of Oz first! One, born with emerald green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. \"Wicked\" follows these two unlikely friend and college roomates as they grow into different women. MYSTERY TOUR    
***These trips are a Mystery! We will travel by bus to unknown destinations, an experience new adventures! Walking is usually required but not for long distances! GRND COULEE- SHARED ROOM    
***This is a three day field trip that will be listed on the e-schedule twice. There are two rates. One for a shared room and one for a single room. Pick a roomate and get a discount! Your instructor, Bob Carson is a Phillips Professor of Geology and Environmental Studies at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. He has led field trips in Africa, Eurasia, South America and throughout North America. We will meet at the WWCC Flagpole at 9am on Friday with a picnic lunch and hit Moses Lake sand dunes, missoula floods gravel in Quincy basin, Lower Grand Coulee, Coulee monocline, Columbia River basalts, staying the night Grand Coulee Center Lodge. Saturday will include: Esker at Sims Corner, Yeager Rock, The Pothills, Withrow Moraine, Lunch at Chelan Falls, Chelan Migmatite, Glacial striations, Drive up Chelan Butte, staying overnight at Campbell's Resort. Sunday will include: Earthquake Point, Moraines at Leavenworth, Fossiliferous sandstone and basalt dikes, Walk and lunch at Ginkgo Petrified Forest at Vantage, Sentinel Gap, Stop at Vernita Bridge and a drive by Wallula Gap, returning to Walla Walla by 5pm on Sunday. All hotel and transportation is included in the price. You must provide and purchase your own food.

FUTURE OF INTELLIGENCE    
***In this course Mr. Jamison will pull together current trends in the development of individual, collective, and machine intelligence to paint a (refreshingly bright) picture of the future. ***Irish-born author Oscar Wilde began his life as an outsider and became the toast of London with his writing and wit, then flamed out his days mired in controversy, prison and exile. Through study and discussion of his only novel, we will explore the meaning and myth of a verbal genius rendered a scapegoat by a deeply hypocritical society.
