Selection Policy

The primary function of the Walla Walla Community College Library is to support, enrich, and implement the curriculum of the college. In addition, the Library tries to provide a basic collection aimed at the intellectual development of the individual, and also to support a degree of faculty research.

The Walla Walla Community College Library reaffirms its belief in the following basic policies included in the American Library Association Bill of Rights:
  1. No material should be excluded because of the race or nationality or the social, political or religious views of the author.
  2. The Library shoujd provide books and other materials presenting all points of view concerning the problems and issues of our times; no library materials should be proscribed or removed because of partisan or doctrinal disapproval.
  3. Censorship should be challenged by the Library in the maintenance of its responsibility to provide information and enlightenment.
  4. The rights of an individual to the use of the Library shall not be denied or abridged because of age, race, religion, national origins or social or political views.
  5. Gifts will be accepted if they are compatible with the Library's acquisitions policy.
