Description
This course is an introduction to the techniques used in residential and agricultural applications to reduce water and/or energy consumption and conserve soil. Water application methods, low-pressure systems, and common soil conservation strategies are targeted. Formerly WGMT 230.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Identify inefficiencies in irrigation system water and energy use.
  • Explain water, soil, and energy conservation strategies relevant to the local area.
  • Evaluate power costs for residential, industrial, and agriculture users, including demand charges.
  • Demonstrate soil moisture measurement techniques.
  • Compute the costs of installing and operating irrigation efficiency projects.
  • Calculate irrigation schedules for crops of varying rooting depths.
