Description
Focus on math and science for preschool and primary grade children. Students will learn how to create developmentally appropriate curriculum that will support young children in acquiring concepts and skills essential to basic understanding of math and science. Classroom activities will be introduced and concepts studied through inquiry based learning, note taking and discussion sessions. Recommended: READ 088 
Intended Learning Outcomes
Explain how young children develop and acquire mathematical and scientific knowledge.
Explain the science attitudes and process skills appropriate to preschool and primary age children and identify the major areas of science instruction.
State the fundamental math concepts and skills appropriate to preschool and primary age children and identify the major areas of math instruction.
Develop naturalistic, informal and structured learning activities for fundamental math and science concepts.
Demonstrate strategies and activities for developing math and science concepts and skills that promote, facilitate and extend learning for all children.
Develop a curriculum unit that includes a variety of science process skills and math operations and utilizes the sixstep instruction model for planning concept experiences.
Create a math and science activity file that includes activities that represent the math concepts and primary science investigations introduced throughout the course.
