Master Course Outline Biology of Women Course Number: WST 121 Credits: 3 Hours per Quarter: 30 Lecture Hours:30 Description Designed to examine biological issues related to the distinctive anatomical and physiological characteristics and qualities of women. This course does not include a lab. Prerequisite: Appropriate placement score or grade of C or higher in ENGL 087; or permission of the Science Division Chair or designee. Recommended: READ 088. Student may not earn credit for both WST 121 and BIOL 121. Intended Skills and Attitude Outcomes A. Students will have an overall understanding of the structures and functions of the human female's body. B. Students will develop an introduction to scientific thinking and reasoning. C. Students will develop critical thinking in the application of basic knowlege. D. Students will have an awareness of current advances and events in science with application to women's health. E. Students will individually research, including Internet research, critical reading and thinking, report writing, and proper literature and electronic reference citations.
