Description
Focus is on industry practices involving pipe welding and welder certification. Topics include welding procedures, specifications, preparation of test samples, testing, and acceptance standards. Prerequisite: WELD 153 or instructor permission.

Intended Skills and Attitude Outcomes
A. Knowledge of the major certification agencies, requirements and procedures, and ability to select the proper test for a given welding setting.
B. Knowledge of testing mechanics, physical properties, inspection criteria, and be able to relate these to welder skill requirements and test preparation.
C. Ability to weld, section, prepare, and test metal sections for both tensile and bend testing.
D. Ability to complete certificate testing and welding procedure specification forms.
