Description
Training in safe and proper SMAW arc welding procedures and techniques will be covered, including arc welding equipment setup, E-6010 and E-7018 electrode practice, shop work practice, demonstrations, and classroom presentations. Prerequisite: WELD 151 or instructor permission. |
Intended
Skills and Attitude Outcomes |
A. Knowledge of safe and proper SMAW equipment setup, operation, and shut-down practices.
B. Knowledge of SMAW electrodes, basic electricity, and safe work practices.
C. Knowledge of SMAW weldment testing and industry accepted standards.
D. Ability to weld mild steel components using E-6010 electrodes. Practice includes pad, inside and outside corner weldments in all positions.
E. Ability to apply welding practices to meet accepted industry practices.
