Description
Introduction to the methods used in maintenance of sports fields, parks, school grounds, and golf courses. Prepares students for cooperative work experience and for entry into the turf industry. |
Intended
Skills and Attitude Outcomes |
A. Identify turf maintenance practices that help to maintain a healthy turf.
B. Knowledge of new and old tools used by the Turf Managers.
C. Ability to discuss and perform the special functions used on sports fields and many other turf areas such as painting logos, taking soil samples, and doing field inspections.
D. Perform various functions related to the care and maintenance of golf courses, including material and equipment selection.
E. Be able to discuss Integrated Pest Management.
F. Identify coop internship-training opportunities and prepare documentation for securing an internship or industry related position.
