Survey course in physics for the non-science or undecided major. Emphasis on conceptual understanding rather than computation. Topics include motion, forces, the concept of work and energy, physical states of matter, principles of thermodynamics, basic electricity and magnetism, and atomic and nuclear structure. Lab work required. Prerequisites: MATH 074C; appropriate placement score or grade of C or higher in ENGL 087; or permission of the Science Division Chair or designee. Recommended: READ 088 or higher.
