Master Course Outline Transcultural Competency for Health Professionals Course Number: HO 174 Credits: 2 Hours per Quarter: 20 Lecture Hours:20 Description An introduction to basic concepts of transcultural competency in Nursing and Allied Health with a focus on the applied aspects of cultural difference. Also examines how different cultural communities relate to health care in terms of behavior, attitude, and policy and how these are transformed into practices and standards in the medical community, impacting quality of service and producing a given outcome. Prerequisite: Appropriate placement score or grade of C or higher in ENGL 097; or instructor permission.
