Description
Instruction on the skills and knowledge required to present public relations material and educational information from the fire service to the general public and other targeted groups on prevention, safety, and other fire related issues. In addition to the educational component, the student gains insights into working with community agencies, understanding the legislative process, and securing funding and other resources. |
Intended
Skills and Attitude Outcomes |
A. Demonstrate the ability to deliver a public safety education lesson to a target audience using a prepared lesson plan and the four step method of instruction as evidenced by positive peer and instructor techniques, whereby students meet the NFPA 1035 standard by receiving a Passing evaluation.
B. Teach a minimum of two quality lessons using appropriate methods, techniques, and media for the purpose of enhancing skills, knowledge, and attitudes of the target audience.
C. Provide appropriate feedback during peer presentations according to NFPA 1035 Standard exercising proactive critique methods.
D. Demonstrate the ability to provide feedback regarding possible revisions in lesson plan or material as evidenced by revisions cited on lesson plan form or other instructional materials.
