Description
The study, analysis, application and evaluation of teaching/instructional methodology. Presentation of educational information and skills to fellow Fire Science students and the general public is emphasized. Course is consistent with competencies identified by the NFPA 1041 Standard. Prerequisite: Acceptance to the Fire Science program. |

Skills and Attitude Outcomes |
A. Demonstrate the ability to deliver a fire service subject lesson plan using a prepared lesson plan and the four-step method of instruction as evidenced by positive peer and instructor techniques whereby students meet the NFPA standard by receiving a Passing evaluation (Standard).
B. Determine roles of instructors and students.
C. Describe the instructional planning process.
D. Introduce the student to the learning process: learning styles and personality traits.
E. Describe the components of instructional development.
F. Describe instructional methods/techniques.
G. Acquaint the student with instructional materials/aids.
H. Describe methods of evaluation and testing.
I. Demonstrate a teaching method that is designed to meet the unique needs of each student.
