Master Course Outline Communication Course Number: ESL 015 Credits: 1- 5 Hours per Quarter: 55 Lecture Hours:44    Lab Hours:11 Description Designed to meet the needs of students who speak with difficulty in familiar settings either face-to-face or in brief telephone conversations. Focus is on developing vocabulary, word choice, register, pace and gesture in order to increase effectiveness of communication. Prerequisite: CASAS placement score of 211 and above. Intended Skills and Attitude Outcomes A. Ability to speak understandably. B. Ability to use the North American English vowel system, intonation, and stress. C. Knowledge of the difference between American communication style and their own style.
