Description
Focus on math and science for preschool and primary grade children. Students will learn how to create developmentally appropriate curriculum that will support young children in acquiring concepts and skills essential to basic understanding of math and science. Classroom activities will be introduced and concepts studied through inquiry based learning, note taking and discussion sessions. Recommended: READ 088 |

A. Knowledge of appropriate curriculum for the young child.
B. Ability to relate the learning of science and math to the future studies and work of young children.
C. Ability to examine the essential learnings specific to science that have been established by the state of Washington.
D. Knowledge of science and its content to include scientific processes, concepts, and topics.
E. Ability to participate in cooperative learning activities that develop problem solving abilities, questioning strategies, and communication skills.
F. Ability to relate to the informal learning activities that supplement a child’s formal school experiences through learning experiences which use inexpensive and readily available materials.
G. Ability to begin the process of accessing reading material that supports the science content learning.
