This course is a study of the general biology of microorganisms. This course is primarily intended for Nursing and Allied Health majors in fulfillment of the pre-nursing (or health care related) program lab science requirements; however, this course may also be used in fulfillment of a general education lab science requirement. Topics include: the classification, morphology, and physiology of microorganisms with an emphasis on the importance of microorganisms causing infectious diseases. Lab work focuses on the culturing and characterization of microorganisms. Formerly BIO 230, Microbiology. Prerequisite: Grade of C or higher in BIOL& 160 or 211 or permission of the Science Division Chair or designee.
