Description
Architecture, sculpture, painting, and crafts are studied for an examination and understanding of style. A study of art of Europe, Egypt, and the Near East from the Prehistoric Period through the Middle Ages. Craftsmanship, and cultural function will be discussed. This course is the first in a three-quarter sequence but may be taken out of sequence. |

Skills and Attitude Outcomes |
Students must museum visits, a project related toancient art style in art and architecture, exams over major monuments, artists and movements, quizzes, a "You Were There! assignment, and a comprehensive final which demonstrate the student's ability to identify time periods, geogrpahical centers, and stylistic characteristics of major art movements from the prehistoric period through the Middle Ages.
