Study and application of the formal elements of art structure. Problems in organization of line, shape, value, texture, and color. Emphasis on composition and presentation of black and white and designs. Materials to be purchased. |

Using design projects, presentations,quizzes, a midterm, and a final exam or project, students will demonstrate their knowledge of the following; a brief history of design; the vocabulary of and for the visual arts; the basic principles of design; the roles of the artist and the observer; and application of the elements of art structure.
