Description
Training in theory, diagnosis and repair of automotive brake systems. Students will study disc, drum and anti-lock brake systems. This course is structured to provide competency-based application of NATEF automotive repair tasks in a working shop environment and will provide students with the background and knowledge to take the ASE certification examinations. Co-requisites: AMM 145 and 149. Prerequisite: Instructor permission. |

A. Know the meaning and the use of specific industry terminology.
B. Use shop equipment safely and properly.
C. Identify gear types and uses.
D. Know gear ratio, reduction and overdrive, and calculate gear ratio and speed.
E. Identify torque and speed relationships.
F. Identify types of planetary gear sets and their different parts.
G. Know hydraulic fundamentals.
H. Diagnose and repair automatic transmission shift problems.
I. Demonstrate ability to remove, overhaul, and replace an automatic transmission or transaxle.
J. Perform manual transmission repair and clutch replacement.
K. Perform differential drivability problem diagnosis and repair.
