Description
Basic information on animal health and disease prevention. Topics include fundamentals of the nature of disease, nutrition, sanitation, disinfection, immunization, and basic husbandry practices. |
Intended
Skills and Attitude Outcomes |
A. Knowledge of the causes, methods of transmission, and the prevention of diseases.
B. Ability to describe the structure and function of the various systems of the animal body.
C. Knowledge of non-infectious disorders.
D. Knowledge of the life cycles of external and internal parasites and methods of control.
E. Ability to identify various poisonous plants indigenous to the Pacific Northwest.
F. Knowledge of infectious diseases that are common in the Pacific Northwest.
G. Ability to take the temperature and heart and respiration rate of an animal and knowledge of their significance.
H. Ability to correctly restrain animals.
I. Ability to properly administer vaccines.
