Provides a practical understanding of plant structure, function and physiological processes involved in growth and development. |
Intended
Skills and Attitude Outcomes |
1. Distinguish the various forms of propagation.
2. Understand how seeds germinate and the factors that regulate the process.
3. By identifying the different plan growth regulators, the student will understand how they influence many patterns of development.
4. Outline the steps in the light and dark reactions of photosynthesis.
5. Identify the parts of the cell that are involved in photosynthesis.
6. Recognize plant pigment groups and their involvement in the photosynthesis process.
7. Describe the process of respiration and the factors that influence the rates.
8. Discuss the Krebs cycle and its importance to the plant.
9. Understand the process of transpiration.
10. Identify and discuss the variables regulating transpiration in plants.
11. Be able to describe the transport system in plants.
12. Knowledge of the basics of genetics.
13. Recognize the techniques used for biogenetic altering of plants.
14. Understand the public concerns involving the genetic altering issue.
