Master Course Outline Plant Anatomy and Morphology Course Number: AGPR 113 Credits: 5 Hours per Quarter: 60 Lecture Hours:40    Lab Hours:20 Description Provides a practical understanding of plant anatomy, morphology, and growth of agriculture crops. Intended Skills and Attitude Outcomes A. Distinguish between vascular and non-vascular plant forms. B. Diagram a plant cell, label its parts, and outline the major steps of cell division. C. Identify the major tissue systems of plant roots and their functions. D. Be able to discuss the water uptake and mineral absorption by plants. E. From diagrams, identify monocotyledon versus dicotyledon stems. F. Discuss structure and significance of stomata in plants. G. Given a flower, distinguish different types of ovaries, label their parts and know their functions. H. Diagram a monocot and a dicot seed and label the major parts as discussed in class. I. Compare seedling germination and emergence in plants and their morphological features. J. Ability to trace the movement of water, minerals and simple sugars through the conductive tissue in the plant. K. Label a cross section of a leaf and discuss how leaves are used as classifying material.
