Description
Explore the history of the Pacific Northwest relationship between people and water. Topics include different cultural views of water, from tribal, agricultural, municipal, recreational and transportation entities. State and Federal environmental policies affecting water will be analyzed. The evolution of Native American culture and the effects of water on the culture will also be examined. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Respect differing views in regards to a subject.
Gain an understanding in why cultures view the same subject differently.
Identify commonalities within differing views.
Gain an understanding of how policy (Fed, State, Local) can dictate views.
Summarize, orally and in writing, essential concepts in the relationships of regional cultures of water.
Understand and use technical vocabulary in speech and writing.
Write clear, correct, and complete reports on topics related to the cultures of water.
Orally communicate knowledge of the material of the course with confidence and effectiveness.
Understand and practice methods of conflict resolution in both personal and global contexts.
