Description
Entry-level student training in safe practices of fuel gas cutting/welding and shielded metal arc welding. Topics include equipment operation, industry practices, arc welding fundamentals, material preparation methods, basic electricity, metals and electrodes, shop work ethics, and print reading/layout procedures. Prerequisite: Instructor permission. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Identify safe high pressure and fuel gas cylinder handling practices.
Define setup steps and gauge adjustments for joining and cutting processes.
Demonstrate welding, brazing, and cutting mild steel using fuel gas processes and arc processes.
Decide when safe operating, maintaining, and transporting fuel gas process equipment methods are used.
Demonstrate proficiency in reading welding shop blueprints/drawings.
Complete Oxy/Fuel Welding and Cutting and beginning Shielded Metal Arc Welding units in welding textbook.

Use and care for fuel gas welding and cutting apparatuses
Portable and shop welding systems, grinders, vices, clamps, drills, files, air driven tools, punches shears breaks
Measuring methods
Fabrication methods and material types
Goal of welding certification on plate using an E-6010 electrode type
Grinding equipment operation
Blueprint reading and weld symbol principles.
