Description
Provides the experienced welder additional training on student selected welding processes. Prerequisite: WELD 145.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Identify major requirements to operate equipment to produce cuts, grinds, and weldments.
  • Define safe, recommended practices used in their area of interest or program major requirement.
  • Demonstrate set up, operate, and shut down welding and cutting equipment.
  • Recognize and create conditions for a safe welding environment.

  • Course Topics
  • Use and care for fuel gas welding and cutting apparatuses
  • Portable and shop arc welding systems, grinders, vices, clamps, drills, files, air driven tools, punches shears breaks
  • Measuring methods
  • Portable gas cylinders, carts, fabrication methods and material types
  • Grinding equipment operation
