Description
Designed to train educators in teaching turf management to high school students. Topics include fundamentals of turf equipment operation, careers in turf management, and turf physiology as well as preparation of lesson plans and developing teaching resources for turf management.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Demonstrate knowledge of turf equipment operation and the ability to demonstrate proper instruction techniques.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of career options and availability in turf management.
  • Identify and classify resource material availability for teaching turf management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of turf physiology.
  • Demonstrate specialty turf management techniques.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of golf course operations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of grass plant water use and irrigation principles.
  • Demonstrate turf fertilization techniques.
  • Identify turf selection criteria and the knowledge of turf establishment.
