Description
Students develop an awareness of their leadership potential and abilities through small group discussions and assumption of leadership roles and responsibilities. Students will acquire information, experience diverse points of view, construct knowledge and practice a variety of interpersonal and social skills, such as communicating, goal-setting, decision-making, team-building, and managing stress. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Describe the characteristics of leadership
Discuss the major roles of a leader
Explain the differences between leadership and management
Discuss interpersonal behaviors and the resulting effects upon working relationships
Describe stress and its impact upon effective leadership
Describe basic parliamentary procedure and its role in the conduct of meetings
Identify the basic types of conflict, conditions that lead to conflict, and methods of facilitating conflict resolution
Describe management attitudes and the need to plan for change
