Description
Intermediate course provides practice in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students study grammar, vocabulary, and the use of idiomatic expressions. Prerequisite: SPAN& 222 or instructor permission. Formerly SPAN 203, Spanish VI. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE: Students will expand communication skills and demonstrate increased competence in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Proficiency will continue to be evaluated according to ACTFL standards and O.P.I. criteria. (Communication)
CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING: Students will acquire a more complex understanding of Latino culture as it manifests itself in the Spanish-speaking world, including the United States. Students will create and identify cultural hypotheses and test them through weekly language exchange sessions with Spanish-seapking English as a second language students. (Diversity)
LINGUISTIC EXPERTISE: Students will demonstrate a measurable increase in their understanding of the construction and use of their first and second languages. They will be expected to acquire and utilize more complex grammatical and syntactic structures in the target language, as well as in English. (Lifelong learning)
