Description
A continuation of Medical Terminology I (OT 280). The course will cover the additional body systems and then focuses on specialty areas of practice. Prerequisite: OT 280 |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Communicate effectively (speak/pronounce, listen/comprehend, write/spell/record, and read/abstract information) using medical terminology at the appropriate level of interaction with physicians, nurses and ancillary health-care professionals; health insurance adjudicators, medical coders, and billing specialists; and patients and their family/caregiver.
Acquire the anatomy and physiology knowledge necessary to perform tasks in medical coding(abstract information, research, and correctly identify codes), medical transcription (identify unclear words through context clues), medical billing (link procedural codes to diagnoses to prove medical necessity), and medical assisting (enter appropriate information into patient health record).
Recognize frequently encountered conditions and their signs, symptoms and complications within specialty areas of practice.
Identify diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for common conditions.
