Description
Advanced course in transcribing medical documents from sound files using word processing software and foot pedal. Students develop skills by learning and applying correct number format, capitalization, punctuation, and abbreviations in the medical documents. Prerequisite: OT 115. Recommended: BUS 136 and OT 125. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate ability to apply correct punctuation, grammar, and word usage in medical documents.
Demonstrate ability to apply correct formats to medical documents.
Identify areas of documents that have errors, and use your knowledge of software, Internet, and research tools to fix the errors.
Demonstrate ability to apply listening and analytical skills to accurately transcribe dictation.
Given documents produced by physicians using voice dictation software, format and proofread the document using allowable edits to produce a document that meets professional standards.
