Description
Encourage students to develop an awareness of their leadership potential and abilities through small group discussions and assumption of leadership roles and responsibilities. Students will acquire information, experience diverse points of view, construct knowledge and practice a variety of interpersonal and social skills, such as communicating, goal-setting, decision-making, team building, and managing stress. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate the ability to describe the characteristics of leadership.
Demonstrate the ability to accurately define leadership.
Demonstrate an understanding of leadership through a discussion of the major roles of a leader.
Describe the differences between leadership and management.
Demonstrate an understanding of interpersonal behaviors and the resultlant effects upon working relationships.
Demonstrate an understanding of stress and its impact upon effective leadership.
Demonstrate an understanding of basic parliamentary procedure and its role in the conduct of meetings.
Demonstrate an understanding of conflict resolution by identifying the basic types of conflict, conditions that lead to conflict, and methods of facilitating conflict resolution.
Demonstrate an understanding of change management attitudes and the need to plan for change.
