Description
This course utilizes principles from the behavioral sciences to help students in establishing positive relationships among individuals in the work setting. Through readings, critical thinking, problem solving, writing, role-playing, and case studies, students will develop basic human relations skills essential to effectively function in the modern workplace. These communication skills are applicable to relations with co-workers, supervisors, subordinate workers and customers.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Identify personality types and processing styles related to career choices, job satisfaction, and personal growth.
  • Apply strategies to promote effective conflict resolution to the workplace.
  • Evaluate human relations including cultural identiy, attitudes, self-esteem, and interpersonal skills to promote career success.
  • Identify time and stress management strategies and describe how they could be applied in academic or workplace settings.
  • Evplain how behavior and swtrategies of change management lead to success in education and on-going career development.
  • Describe theories of motivation and analyze impacts on success in educational and career development.
