Description
This course is an introduction to general safety and health practices within the workplace. The students will know the basic types of industrial hazards and become familiar with safe procedures and corrective actions. The student will become familiar with employer responsibilities in occupational settings. The student will develop a safety consciousness and safety minded attitude.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Discuss general educational, medical, and first aid requirements.
  • Explain use and care of personal protective equipment.
  • Discuss safety procedures in the work area.
  • Discuss OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard.
  • Discuss emergency response and fire prevention.
  • Discuss materials handling safety.
  • Discuss the role of ergonomics in the office workplace.
