Description
Explores principles, function, and application of electronic controlled transmissions as found on row crop, 4-WD, and other agriculture equipment.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Test and diagnose various hydraulic controlled transmissions as used on John Deere agricultural equipment.
  • Repair various hydraulic and mechanically controlled transmissions as used on John Deere agricultural equipment.
  • Knowledge of calibration of the control units of the transmissions and power trains.
  • Demonstrate understanding the theory of power-train systems.
  • Explain the theory of operation of mechanical, partial-powershift, full-powershift, and infinitely variable transmissions.
  • Diagnose, disassemble, and reassemble various power-train systems.
  • Explain the theory of operation of brakes (wet and dry), torsion damper, and torque converters.
  • Demonstrate understanding of final drive systems.
  • Diagnose, disassemble, and reassemble various final drive and differential systems.
