Description
Students work on skill development in reading. Students practice a variety of reading comprehension strategies as they read a range of materials. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate an understanding of the process of reading for academic information and utilizing critical thinking to make selective choices about the information
Build vocabulary through context clues and recognizing word part meanings
Recognize the main idea and supporting material of a reading (essay length)
Paraphrase material from readings to demonstrate comprehension
Summarize information using various concept maps including flow charts, and basic outlines
Recognize fact from opinion in print and internet sources
Increase reading speed from the time the student entered the course to when they exit
