Description
This is a survey course covering the history and culture of the United States from 1898 to the present. An emphasis is placed on the establishment of our democratic form of government based on responsibilities of good citizenship, what happened in the United States these last 100+ years and to appreciate how 20th century Americans lived and experienced the great events.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Identify the significant people and events in the United States 20th and 21st centuries
  • Explain the development of the United States and evaluate its impact on the present
  • Illustrate and analyze the cause and effect relationships of past human events
  • Identify national trends and diagnose issues facing the people of the United States today
