Description
This high intensity sports activity course will emphasize the skills, strategies, etiquette, and safety of college rodeo.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Employ the rules and guidelines for college rodeo events & the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA).
  • Demonstrate physical and mental skills needed to be competitive in one’s event(s).
  • Practice using proper skills and strategies
  • Recognize and solve specific problems related to one’s event(s).

  • Course Topics
  • Bareback bronc riding, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, breakaway roping (women), goat tying (women), team roping (co-ed), barrel racing (women), bull riding, and steer wrestling
  • Methods in competitive performance
  • Safety in college rodeo
  • Individual and team strategy
  • National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) rules and guidelines
