Description
This course, designed for the beginning or intermediate archer, will expose students to the sport's history, terminology, equipment, etiquette, and skill fundamentals. [PE]

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Demonstrate skill principles associated with proper shooting stance, nocking an arrow correctly, proper anchor point and safety release of an arrow.
  • Explain and paraphrase archery history.
  • Utilize principles of score keeping and demonstrate correct calculations.
  • Demonstrate proper usage of archery terminology.
  • Apply proper use of archery rules and etiquette.

  • Basic equipment used for archery.
  • Practice components of nocking, drawing, aiming and shooting at targets.
  • Scoring and retrieving arrows.
  • Rules and etiquette.
  • Preparation for the physical demands associated with archery.
  • Lifetime fitness value - opportunities to continue activity outside of class time.
