Description
Provides students with an assessment of their physical fitness, an individualized exercise prescription, and an understanding of fitness and health concepts.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Demonstrate how to figure target heart rate and understand the importance of its issues.
  • Recognize and experience positive changes as a result of exercise.
  • Understand that by designing individual workouts, desired results can be achieved.
  • Understand that using proper exercise and stretching techniques can prevent injuries.
  • Recognize that the benefits of exercise come from regular participation to maintain fitness and by increasing the workload progressively to improve fitness levels.
  • Develop an awareness that regular exercise is a lifestyle activity that contributes to general fitness, cardiovascular improvement, increased muscular strength and endurance, increased flexibility and reduction of stress.
  • Completion of physical fitness assessment and development of individualized exercise prescription as well as regular exercise sessions will determine the student's final grade.
  • Show that because of regular exercise over a 10 week period, strength increases will be realized.
