Description
An overview of the principles of pharmacology and general drug classifications and formulations. Legal aspects of medication administration will be discussed. The students will be introduced to the care and handling of many medications and receive an awareness of drug related problems. This class is open to Medical Assisting students, Nursing students, and other interested health professionals. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Identify the basic principles of pharmacology, drug classifications, dosing, interactions and adverse events.
Identify the effects of drugs used for various surgeries.
Practice handling and administering medications in all forms.
List the safety issues that apply when administering medications, including routes of administrations.
Practice dosage calculations using principles of basic arithmatic.
